Do Tests on Coaxial Cabling
Figure 2 shows typical connections for tests on coaxial cabling. Be sure to select the
test limit applicable to the link.
The Autotest includes these tests:
Length
Resistance (remote or terminator required)
Impedance
Insertion Loss (remote required)
Propagation delay
HDTDR analyzer
Note
The minimum cable length for an impedance measurement is
13 ft (4 m). For impedance measurements on shorter cables,
the tester shows
Cable too short
, and an for the impedance
and overall test results.
If No Remote is Connected
If the remote tester is not connected or the cable is too long, the main tester’s toner
turns on and the
MEASURE
button shows. If you tap
MEASURE
, the tester does the
length, impedance, and resistance tests, which do not require a remote. If a
terminator is connected, the tester gives a resistance measurement, but shows

for the length measurement.
