Folding and unfolding your wheelchair

 

 

 

 

To fold Wheelchair

 

1.

 

Ensure all 4 wheels on the ground

 

2.

 

Release the folding latch on the rear of the chair

 

3.

 

With one hand hold the wheelchair frame at front of seat and with the other hold the top of the backrest

 

4.

 

Pull together.      This causes the chair to fold inwards

 

5.

 

Finally swing the footplate inwards towards the seat

 

6.

 

The chair is now fully folded

 

To un-fold Wheelchair

 

1.

 

If the wheelchair is sitting upright on its rear 2 wheels, lower it down so that all 4 wheels are now on the 
ground.

 

2.

 

Holding on to the frame at the top of the backrest and gently pull backwards.    This will cause the frame to 
open.

 

3.

 

Push down on the seat area and pull back on the backrest to ensure fully opened

 

4.

 

Once fully open secure the fold/unfold latch at the rear of the chair to prevent it from un-folding again.

 

5.

 

Swing the footplate down so it is ready for the user to place their feet on it. You may need to swing out of the 
way for the user to get safely on to the seat.

 

6.

 

The chair is now fully opened ready for use.
