ECT (Engine Coolant Temp.)
• When the temperature of the
coolant increases, the resistance of
the thermistor decreases and the
signal voltage decreases.
• The ECT sensor is a two (2) wire
thermistor sensor.
• The PCM supplies a 5 volt
reference signal which the ECT
sensor uses to produce an analog
voltage.
• The ECT sensor changes
resistance when exposed to
different temperatures.
• When the temperature of the
coolant decreases, the resistance
of the thermistor increases and the
signal voltage increases.
