OPERATION
What is differential lock?
Differential lock is a system that increases
the capacity of transmission of power to the
surface. Lock gear is consists of the yoke
that moves the gear and a pneumatic (air
operated) piston.
Engine torque transmitted to the left and right
sides of the vehicle and wheel speeds are
equalized when the differential lock is locked.
Activate the differential lock in bad and
slippery road conditions where high traction
power is required.
CAUTION
If the differential lock is not used properly,
there is a risk of serious damage to the
differential unit and/or a serious risk of
accident. Differential faults caused by using
improper use of differential lock are out of
warranty cover.
To activate the Differential Lock
Follow the procedure below to activate the
differential lock in bad and slippery road
conditions:
1) Ensure that the wheels are not on slippery
surface and stop the vehicle completely.
2) Turn the differential lock switch(es) on.
4x2, 6x2 and 8x2 vehicles have optional front
differential locks (FDL);
and 6x4 and 8x4 vehicles have front
differential locks (FDL), rear differential locks
(RDL) and inter-axle differential locks (IADL)
as standard.
3) X2 vehicles FDL
light will be
illuminated on the instrument panel when
differential lock is activated, and a warning
buzzer shall sound if available.
4) When differential lock is activated in X4
vehicles, both FDL and RDL lights
shall be illuminated simultaneously and a
buzzer shall sound if it is available.
When the differential lock is active completely,
vehicle will have a tendency to move outwards
of the turn while turning. Always disengage
differential lock while turning. Otherwise, the
differential of your vehicle may brake and you
may require road assistance.
Vehicle speed shall not exceed 20km/h while
the differential is active.
WARNING
Vehicle should always be decelerated in
sharp curves, and it is advised that the FDL is
deactivated in sharp curves. User is informed
by buzzer on that differential lock is activated.
