FortiGate-ASM-FB4 hardware
The FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module is an AMC (Advanced Mezzanine Card) which
can be installed in a FortiGate-3600A, FortiGate-3810B or FortiGate-3016B unit’s
single width AMC slot. To complete assembly, SFP transceivers must also be
inserted into the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module’s four SFP cages.

Installation and removal
FortiGate-ASM-FB4 modules should be installed or removed while the FortiGate
unit is powered off. Hot swapping is not currently supported.
SFP transceivers can be installed in the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module before or
after the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module is installed.
To install SFP transceivers
1
Attach the ESD wrist or ankle strap to your wrist or ankle and to an ESD socket or
to a bare metal surface on the chassis or frame.
2
Remove the caps from the SFP cage sockets on the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module
front panel.
3
Hold the sides of the SFP transceiver and slide the SFP transceiver into the cage
until it clicks into place. Repeat this action for each transceiver you want to install.
To install a FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module
1
Power off the FortiGate unit.
2
Attach the ESD wrist or ankle strap to your wrist or ankle and to an ESD socket or
to a bare metal surface on the chassis or frame.
3
Open the latch and remove the panel baffle on the FortiGate unit’s single width
AMC slot.
4
Pull the latch on the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module into the extended position.
5
Insert the FortiGate-ASM-FB4 module into the empty slot, and carefully guide the
module into the chassis.
The module should glide smoothly into the chassis. If you encounter any
resistance while sliding the module in, the module could be aligned incorrectly. If
this occurs, pull the module out and try again.
!
Caution:
FortiGate-ASM-FB4 modules must be protected from static discharge and
physical shock. Only handle or work with FortiGate-ASM-FB4 modules at a static-free
workstation. Always wear a grounded electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist or ankle strap
when handling FortiGate-ASM-FB4 modules.
