Using the Confusables
Search Screen
The
Oxford Thesaurus of English
also
contains a Confusables search screen
where you can search a word list for
all the Confusables contained in the
thesaurus.
1. Press
.
2. Press or to highlight
Oxford
Thesaurus of English, 2nd edition
and then press ENTER.
3. Press
.
4. Begin to type an English word, for
example
insure
.
As you type letters, the fi rst
Confusable in the book that matches
the letters you type will move to the
top of the list. You may not have to
type the entire Confusable in order
to fi nd the one you want. In this
example, note that “insure” appears
on the screen after you type “in”.
5. When the Confusable you want
is on the screen, press until it is
highlighted.
6. Press ENTER to look it up.
7. Use the navigation button to read
the entire entry.
Press
to hear the word using
British English.
Note
: Confusables are displayed at
the end of the thesaurus entry of the
word you looked up.
8. Press CLEAR when done.
