To find a series of missing letters in a word,
type an asterisk. To type an asterisk, press
MATCH
or
✽
. There are more matches here
because an asterisk can be one letter or sev-
eral letters.
1. Type a word with
✽
’s.
2. Press ENTER.
3. Press
to view more matches.
4. Press CLEAR when done.
Finding Phrases
Crosswords can also search for phrases. You
need to know only a few of the letters in the
phrase. NOTE: Phrases take longer to find
because Crosswords must search the entire
list of phrases from A to Z.
1. Type a word in a phrase (e.g., CAT).
2. Press PHRS.
3. Press
to continue searching.
4. Press CLEAR to stop.

Tips for Finding Words
• Use ?’s to find lists of words (e.g., to view
four-letter words beginning with a
z, enter
Z???).
• Use both ?’s and

’s in a word (e.g.,
Z

K?). There is no need to type a ? next
to a

Typing Punctuation
At
Ready, you can type an apostrophe by
pressing
or a period by pressing

NOTE: These punctuation marks cannot
begin a word.
