2.5.7.1 Air/Ground Input
The Air/Ground discrete input connects to an open/ground squat switch or other Air/Ground
discrete indication for external input of automatic Air/Ground indication. The Air/Ground input is
configurable to be either Not Connected, High when Airborne, or Low (ground) when Airborne.
Airborne or On Ground status affects ADS-B message transmission behaviour and is required
for Transceiver and Transmitter installations.
Light Aircraft Installations: If configured to the Light Aircraft (<15500 lbs) Emitter
Category, the FDL-DB Dual Band Series will automatically determine the
Air/Ground status using aircraft data such as GPS Ground Speed without needing
an external Air/Ground input discrete.
Other Aircraft Installations: The FDL-DB Dual Band Series validates the
Air/Ground status of the external Air/Ground input for all other Emitter Categories
including Rotorcraft utilizing available GPS and air (pressure altitude, airspeed,
etc.) data.
Rotorcraft Installations: The FDL-DB Dual Band Series sufficiently validates an
Air/Ground input discrete based on collective position or collective position
combined with oil pressure, no/low engine RPM, airspeed, etc. to ensure false On
Ground indications are not transmitted during auto-rotation training and other
unusual conditions.
Automatic air/ground determination is required for Transceiver and Transmitter
installations.
2.5.7.2 Traffic Test Input
The Traffic Test Input indicates the traffic test status of a 429 traffic display. The FDL-DB Dual
Band Series will send traffic test data to ARINC OUT 1 when the traffic test input is active low.
2.5.7.3 Anonymous Mode Input
Anonymous Mode allows the FDL-DB-XVR to broadcast a self-assigned random temporary
address and no call sign when enabled. A dedicated pilot interface is required to provide this
input.
Anonymous Mode cannot be used on:
o
Aircraft equipped with a Mode S transponder
o
Aircraft with Dual Link 1090ES and UAT ADS-B Out systems operating at
the same time
Anonymous Mode is not active:
o
During the first 90 seconds after the FDL-DB Dual Band Series powers
on.
o
When the squawk code is set to anything other than 1200.
