Setting Up Port Sharing
Overview
With default settings in the FRITZ!Box, programs on your computer and
LAN cannot be accessed from the Internet. For applications like online
games and file sharing software or server services like HTTP, FTP,
VPN, terminal and remote access servers, you have to make your com
puter accessible for other Internet users.
Port Sharing
Using port sharing you allow incoming connections from the Internet.
By releasing certain ports for incoming connections, you grant con
trolled access to the computers in your network to other Internet
users.
Port Sharing on Protocols
Port sharing in the FRITZ!Box is possible on the following protocols:

Explanation
PING
IPv4
The FRITZ!Box responds to ping inqui
r
ies from the Internet addressed to the
IPv4 address of the FRITZ!Box.
IPv6
The FRITZ!Box responds to ping inqui
r
ies from the Internet addressed to the
IPv6 address of the FRITZ!Box. Addi
tionally, you can set up PING6 port
sharing rules for each computer in the
home network since each computer
has its own globally valid IPv6
address.
