If the “lever + drawback pulley” unit (1) reaches the bottom mechanical limit-stop after a
break in welding and the wire spool still continues to “run on”, this means that the braking
force has been set too low.
When very light wire spools are being used, it is helpful to have only a low braking force
-
Take off the side guard panel (see: “Start-up”)
-
Suspend the spring (6) from one of the innermost notches on the braking lever (3)
-
Function test (see: “Care, maintenance and inspection”)
-
Re-mount the side guard panel (see: “Start-up”)
Adjusting the
braking system
response
By “response”, we mean the speed at which the braking force is built up.
Adjusting the response
Delayed response:
-
The braking force starts to take effect
gradually as the “lever + drawback pul
-
ley” unit moves downwards
Rapid response:
-
The braking force takes effect abruptly
Where very heavy wire spools (> 80 kg) are
being used with very high wirefeed speeds
(> 22 m/min), it may be necessary to set a
rapid response.
This is particularly necessary when it is no
longer possible to set the braking force any
higher. A rapid response achieves a greater
braking effect than the delayed response.
To set a more rapid response, proceed as follows:
Take off the side guard panel
Undo the set-screw (14) of the clamping ring (15)
Push the clamping ring (15) upward
–
The further up the clamping ring sits, the sooner the full braking effect starts to
occur.
CAUTION!
Danger from arising vibrations
This can result in serious damage to property.
► When the unreeling device is in the working position, ensure that the gap between the
bottom limit-stop of the oblong-hole profile and the clamping ring is at least 5 mm.
