Care, maintenance and inspection
Safety
WARNING!
Danger due to incorrectly performed work.
This can result in serious injury and damage to property.
► When performing care, maintenance and inspection, be sure to follow all the instruc
-
tions given in the “Safety rules”.
In particular, the following sub-sections of the “Safety rules” must be strictly observed:
-
Spares / wearing parts and accessories
-
Safety measures for maintenance, inspection and troubleshooting
-
Particular danger spots
To keep the VR 4040 unreeling device operational, observe the following points:
-
At least once a week, inspect the VR 4040 unreeling device for any damage that can
be seen from the outside, and to check that the safety features are all fully functional´
-
Carry out all the tests, inspections and maintenance jobs described in this section
-
Replace any components that are no longer in perfect condition
General remarks
on the wearing
parts
The lifetime of the wearing parts depends upon the wirefeed speed and the weight of the
wire spool used.
For every seam that is welded, there is both an acceleration phase and a braking phase.
The service life of the damper, the brake block and the friction linings (for the overload cou
-
pling) will thus mainly depend on the number of seams that are welded.
On the other hand, the service life of the drawback pulleys and the wireguide tubes is de
-
termined by the amount of wire that is unreeled.
Fonction test
Always perform the function test with the heaviest full wire spool that is in use, and at the
maximum possible wirefeed speed
Start up the wirefeed
After the wire spool has accelerated, stop the wirefeed
Repeat this procedure several times and watch the “lever + drawback pulley” unit (1)
carefully.
If the “lever + drawback pulley” unit (1) does not move as far as the bottom and top
mechanical limit-stops, but stops a little short of these positions, then the VR 4040 un
-
reeling device is working correctly.
If this is not the case, remedy the problem as described in the Troubleshooting Guide
Damper
Inspection interval
-
every 60,000 weld seams
-
at least once a month
The piston rod of the damper must be pointing downwards.
