Inspection procedure
Open the VR 4040
Do a sight-check on wire-guide tubes
[T] and [Y]
If more than 5 mm of wear can be seen
on the ends of wire-guide tubes [T] and
[Y], (e.g. incision caused by wire).
Change wire-guide tube(s) [T] and/or
[Y] (see: “Changing the guide-tube”
and/or “Changing the intermediate
guide”)
Close the VR 4040

Open the VR 4040
Pull the wire-guide tube [T] out of the clamping device (46)

Insert the new wire-guide tube [T] (L = 150 mm) into the clamping device (46)
Allow 25 mm of the wire-guide tube [T] to project beyond the top of the clamping de

Chamfer the inside of the wire-guide tube at the wire inlet end
Gently tighten the swivel nut (45) of the clamping device (46)

To prevent damage to the wire-guide tube [T], only tighten the swivel nut (459 of
the clamping device (46) very gently.

Detach the wire-guide tube [Y] from
the wirefeeder mounted on the VR
4040 unreeling device
as shown in the wirefeeder instruction
manual
Pull the wire-guide tube [Y] out of the
wirefeeder and take it out of the hole
(47) on the VR 4040 unreeling device
Push a new wire-guide tube [Y]
through the hole (47) on the VR 4040
unreeling device and insert it into the
wirefeeder
Allow 15 mm of the wire-guide tube to project into the housing of the VR 4040 unreel

ing device (cut off excess length, chamfer the end on the inside)
Close the VR 4040
