9. Select the desired speech test file using the track selection. Touch and hold down the
selection to display the entire list.
10. Use the Reverse button to continuously play the selected audio track. Remember that
some of the audio tracks contain different word lists or speech noise on each channel.
Therefore, if you have IntFile1 selected on the left channel and IntFile2 selected on the
right channel, and you play each channel in each ear simultaneously, you may get one
word list in one ear and another word list in the other ear. To play the same list in both
ears, make sure to select either IntFile1 or IntFile2 for both ears.
11. Make sure to stop the continuous play of each track by disabling the Reverse button
before selecting the next track.
When testing, you can perform the following operations:
Use the Interlock button to control both Stimulus buttons simultaneously.
Use the Output Reverse button to switch the positions of the left and right channel controls.
See Section 3.1.7.
Use the Talk Forward button to talk to your patient. See Section 3.1.5.
Use the Tracking button to control both Hearing Level sliders simultaneously.
Use the +10 dB Boost button to increase the maximum to 120 dB HL on the Hearing Level
slider's scale. See Section 3.1.8.
Use the dB button to adjust the dB intervals
3.2.2 Testing with Live Voice
To use the boom mic headset to perform a live voice speech test, set both of the Inputs to Mic
and enable the Reverse button of the desired channel for a continuous signal. Look at the VU
Meter of each channel while performing the test. Your voice should normally peak at the 0
value.
Please see Section 3.2.1 for more instructions on how to perform a speech test.
3.2.3 Using an External CD or MP3 Player
To use an external CD or MP3 player, first connect it to the Colt Audiometer Base using the EXT
INPUT jack. Set the Input for each channel in the Speech screen to External 1 or External 2.
On many audiometric speech test audio files, there will be different word lists or speech noise
on each channel. Therefore, if you have External 1 selected on the left channel and External 2
selected on the right channel, and you play each channel in each ear simultaneously, you may
get one word list in one ear and another word list in the other ear. To play the same list in both
ears, make sure to select either External 1 or External 2 for both ears.
