The life-span of the hose assembly can be greatly
increased if a number of precautions are taken;
Avoid stressing the hose through excessive bending.
Ensure the hose is fully retracted and safely stowed as
soon as refuelling is complete. Maintain a firm grip of
the hose when retracting back into the reel to prevent
personal injury or equipment damage.
Do not allow the refuelling nozzle to drag in the dirt
and keep free from dirt and contaminants as much as
possible. Never allow vehicles to drive over the hose.
Ensure refuelled vehicles do not drive away before the
refuelling hose is removed, fully retracted, stowed
away and the vehicle fuel cap is replaced.
Avoid dragging the hose along the ground excessively
and try to position the trailer and the unit to be
refuelled as close and adjacent as possible. This is
not always possible and the 10m hose length should
be utilised especially when refuelling larger vehicles.
Regularly clean the hose assembly where possible to
remove dirt and contaminants. Examine, report or
replace defective parts immediately.
