Setting supervisor and user passwords
►
Start the
BIOS Setup Utility
and go to the
Security
menu.
►
Select the
Set Supervisor Password
fi
eld and press the Enter key.
Type in a password when presented with the
Enter new Password
prompt.
►
Enter the password and press the Enter key.
Confirm new Password
then appears and you are asked to con
fi
rm the password.
►
Enter the password again and press the Enter key.
The
Password installed
message con
fi
rms that the new password has been saved.
►
To set the user password select
Set User Password
and proceed exactly as
when con
fi
guring the supervisor password.
If you do not want to make any other settings you can now exit the
BIOS Setup Utility
.
►
Select the
Exit Saving Changes
option in the
Exit
menu.
►
Select
OK
and press the Enter key.
Password

The notebook will be rebooted and the new password will take effect. If you now want to
open the
BIOS Setup Utility
you must
fi
rst enter your supervisor or user password. Please
note that you only have access to a few BIOS settings with the user password.
Changing the supervisor or user password
You can only change the supervisor password when you have logged into the
BIOS Setup Utility
with the supervisor password.

BIOS Setup Utility
and go to the
Security
menu.

The procedure for changing the password is exactly the same as for setting the initial password.
Cancelling passwords
To cancel a password (without setting a new password) perform the following steps:

and go to the
Security
menu.
►
Highlight the
Set Supervisor Password
or
Set User Password
fi
eld and press the Enter key.
Type in the current password when presented with the
Enter current password
prompt.
Type in a new password when presented with the
Enter new Password
prompt.
►
Press the Enter key twice.
►
Select the
Exit Saving Changes
option in the
Exit
menu.
►
Select
OK
and press the Enter key.
Your notebook will now restart with the password cancelled.
Cancelling the supervisor password will simultaneously deactivate the user password.
