•
“Installing multiple Switch Modules”
•
“System reliability guidelines”
•
“Handling static-sensitive devices”
•
“Electrical considerations”
•
“Environmental considerations”
Installing multiple Switch Modules
Each Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module must be assigned a unique Ethernet IP address
during configuration. After the default Ethernet IP address on the Switch Module has been
changed, you can install additional Switch Modules in the PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade
Servers.
If you do not have a DHCP server, install and configure one Switch Module at a time to ensure that
IP address conflicts do not occur from duplicate Ethernet IP addresses.
Refer to the
PRIMERGY BX900 S2 Basic Unit Operating Manual
that comes with your Fujitsu
PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server for help identifying your specific enclosure setup,
available connections, and power requirements.
System reliability guidelines
To help ensure proper cooling, performance, and system reliability, make sure the following
requirements are met:
•
Each of the I/O module bays at the rear of the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade
Server contains either a switch or a filler blade.
•
A removed hot-swappable Switch Module should be replaced with an identical Switch Module
or filler blade within 60 seconds of removal.
•
The ventilation areas on the sides of the Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server
power modules and blowers are not blocked.
•
You have followed the reliability guidelines in the documentation that comes with your Fujitsu
PRIMERGY BX900 S2 or BX400 Blade Server.
Handling static-sensitive devices
CAUTION
Static electricity can damage the chassis and other electronic devices. To avoid damage, keep
static-sensitive devices in their static-protective packages until you are ready to install them.
To reduce the possibility of electrostatic discharge, observe the following precautions:
•
Limit your movement. Movement can cause static electricity to build up around you.
•
Handle the device carefully, holding it by its edges or its frame.
