Interpreting switch LEDs
4
For descriptions of LED states, refer to the following sections:
•
POST LED operation—Refer to
“POST-operation LEDs”
on page 39
•
Normal LED operation—Refer to
“Normal-operation LEDs”
on page 40
Interpreting switch
LEDs
After the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module is inserted in the BX400 or BX900 S2 Blade
Server, the switch LEDs become active. The LEDs indicate switch status and system status. LED
behavior is indicated by color and speed pulsations, and is identified in greater detail in the
following sections:
•
“System LEDs”
•
“Port LEDs”
on page 39
•
“POST-operation LEDs”
on page 39
•
“Normal-operation LEDs”
on page 40
System LEDs
Figure 7
shows the three system LEDs used on the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module.
Refer to
Table 5
for LED descriptions.
Port LEDs
Each external port on the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module is equipped with a bi-colored
(green and amber) LED that identify port behavior.
Figure 7
shows the port LEDs used on the Brocade 6545 16 Gbps FC Switch Module. Refer to
Table 7
for LED descriptions.
POST-operation LEDs
The system status LEDs flash in various patterns during bootup, POST, or other diagnostic tests.
This is normal and does not indicate a problem unless the LEDs do not indicate a healthy state
after the boot processes and diagnostic tests are complete.

Description
1
Switch status LEDs (Green/Amber)
Identifies switch behavior.
2
Health LED (Green/Amber)
•
Green LED is lit when the Switch Module operates
normally and no errors have been detected. All
internal and external ports are ready for use.
•
Green LED is off when the Switch Module is powered
off or when power has failed.
•
Flashing Amber LED indicates a fault condition.
