Face the front side (scanning side) of a plastic card upwards and insert it into the return path opening. If you
scan multiple cards, insert them one at a time.
●
Thick or rigid cards that are difficult to bend may be fed skewed.
●
If there is dirt on the surface of the card, such as grease marks (fingerprints), perform scanning after wiping
the dirt off.
●
Notes on booklets
When you scan booklets, take note of the following.

Make sure you use a booklet that meets the following specifications, and check if the booklet can be fed
before scanning it.

Thickness: 5 mm or less
When you scan a passport, make sure that it also meets the following specifications.

Type: Compliant with ICAO Doc 9303

Size: 125 × 88 mm (when unopened)

If pages are added or a VISA is attached to a passport, which results in the page thickness exceeding 5 mm, it
cannot be fed.
●
When scanning a booklet that is opened, face the side to be scanned upwards and insert the side which has
less pages into the return path opening.
When scanning the identification page of a passport, insert the side which has the photograph into the
return path opening.
●
If there is dirt on the front or back side of a booklet, such as grease marks (fingerprints), wipe the dirt off
then perform a scan.
●
For booklets that can be damaged quite easily, use the optional Booklet Carrier Sheet.
