To Install a Memory Upgrade Module:
1. Turn off power to your notebook using
the power switch,
(see Power Off on pages

, and remove any power adapter
(AC or auto/airline).
2. Make sure that all the connector covers
are closed.
3. Turn the notebook bottom side up, with the
front panel toward you.
4. Remove the screws at the front of the
memory upgrade module compartment.
(See Figure 5-12.)

on the cover are free.
(See Figure 5-12.)
MEMORY UPGRADE MODULE
Your notebook has 32MB of on-board SDRAM.
To increase your memory capacity you may
install a memory upgrade module in the mem-
ory upgrade compartment in the bottom of
your notebook. The memory upgrade module
is a Small Outline dual-in-line memory module
(SODIMM). You may add modules of different
capacity.
C A U T I O N
The memory upgrade module can be
severely damaged by electro-static dis-
charge (ESD). Be sure you are properly
grounded when handling and installing
the module.
6. Remove the memory upgrade module from
the static guarded sleeve.
P O I N T
If your LifeBook E Series is a Built-to-
order configuration with 64 or 96MB of
pre-installed SDRAM you will already
have a memory module DIMM installed
in the upgrade compartment. To replace
or remove the module, follow the direc-
tions that procede.
