1.1.1
Performance
(1)
Half-height standard 3.5-inch size (1-inch height)
The SCSI controller can be directly connected to the system SCSI bus. The controller meets the
specifications of the standard 1-inch height 3.5-inch fixed disk drive form factor.
(2)
High-speed data transfer
•
The rpm of the MCE3064SS disk medium is 4558 rpm and MCF3064SS disk medium is
3600 rpm.
•
The disk drive is capable of 2.94 to 4.9 MB/sec (640 MB) high-speed data transfer.
Note:
The maximum data transfer rate in asynchronous transfer mode may be limited by the
initiator response time and SCSI bus cable length. The maximum data transfer rate through a
single-ended SCSI bus in synchronous transfer mode is limited also by the SCSI bus cable
length and transfer features.
(3)
High-speed mean seek time
This drive features a linear voice-coil motor for high-speed head positioning. The average seek
time is the average of 1,000 random seeks and is 23 ms (128 MB, 230 MB, 540 MB, and 640
MB). (However, this does not include SCSI overhead or address check.)
(4)
ISO standard (medium compatibility)
3.5-inch, cartridge-type, 128-MB, 230-MB, 540-MB, and 640-MB rewritable disks that comply
with the ISO standard can be used.
(5)
Partial ROM/O-ROM optical media support
This drive can handle the partical ROM media, that means an ROM area is established as a part
of rewritable area, and O-ROM media.
(6)
Direct-overwrite medium support
An optical disk drive can use an optic modulation direct-overwritten medium that does not read
an erase operation: 540-MB disk and 640-MB disk that comply with the ISO standard and 230-
MB disk.
