The SCSI card standard translation scheme can be used up to a maximum
capacity of 1 GB. This card contains an extended translation scheme that
allows support of a disk drive with a capacity greater than 1 GB. Extended
translation is used only with MS-DOS 5.0 or above. When this card is used for
mirroring, this setting should be same as that of the SERVER.
When you create partitions on a disk drive with a capacity greater than 1 GB,
use the MS-DOS fdisk utility in the usual way. Since extended translation can
increase the cylinder size to 8 MB, you must set partition sizes in multiples of
8 MB. If you set a size other than a multiple of 8 MB, the fdisk utility rounds
the size up to the nearest multiple of 8 MB.
Note
Before changing the translation scheme, back up the disk drive, since
all data is lost when you change the translation scheme used.
