Monitoring Messages Output by the SMC
The SMC continuously monitors the main unit for hardware abnormalities. If the
SMC detects a fault in the main unit, a message is displayed on the SMC screen.
The SMC provides the following information about the main unit:

Faulty hardware
Monitors the status of component hardware such as the power source unit, fans,
and battery of the UPS.
l
Hardware requiring preventive maintenance
Monitors the status of component hardware such as the battery of the UPS unit.
Message notification method can be set from the “Machine Administration Menu” of
the system console software on the SMC.
