Installing the PCI/Disk Box
This section contains notes and specifications for PCI/disk box installation.
C.3.1
Notes on PCI/disk box installation
• Rack installation notes
The following product safety instructions must be addressed when installing this
product in the rack.

The PCI/disk box is installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, so the
ambient operating temperature inside of the rack environment may be greater than
the room temperature. Be sure to install the PCI/disk box in an environment
compatible with the manufacturer's maximum rated ambient temperature.
- Adjust air conditioning and circulation to prevent the rack's internal ambient
temperature from exceeding the maximum operating temperature of this unit.
- Maximum internal operating temperature of this unit: 35

C (95
°
F).
- Install the PCI/disk box so that the amount of air flow required for safe
operation of the PCI/disk box is not compromised.
- The PCI/disk box has ventilation openings at the front and back faces of the
unit.
To prevent overheating, do not cover or close these ventilation openings.

Mount of the PCI/disk box in the rack such that a hazardous condition does not
result from uneven mechanical loading. To maintain the stability of the entire rack,
fix the rack to the wall or floor by suitable means.
- Take care to prevent injuries when installing the PCI/disk box into the rack.
- Do not install the PCI/disk box into a rack if the PCI/disk box makes the rack
top-heavy.
- Maximum configured weight of this unit: 40 kg (88 lb).

If the PCI/disk box is supplied with power from a power strip or service outlet
located in other units, it may overload the power supply cable or the power strip of
those units.
Equipment damage
Be sure to follow the precautions below when installing the PCI/disk box.
Otherwise the PCI/disk box may be damaged.
