Power Supply Unit (PSU)
11.1.1 Replacing a Power Supply Unit
If a power supply unit fails, the amber front identify LED on the front panel of the
system blinks. The defective power supply unit can be replaced without turning
the server OFF.

CAUTION!
If a system error has occurred and the front identify/fault LED is blinking,
the error must be resolved, before adding or removing any additional
components.

CAUTION!
Because of chassis airflow disruption, the power supply unit slot should
not be vacant and/or not covered for more than five minutes when the
system power is ON. Exceeding the five-minute limit may damage
components.

CAUTION!
If one power supply unit has failed, do not remove front fan module!

Look at the FAN LED (2) on the back side of the system (see figure 76 on
page 118) to determine which power supply unit is defective.
Ê
Disconnect first the power supply cable of the defective PSU from the
mains.
