Chapter 7 Installing Internal Options
7.2 Removing and Attaching the Top
Cover
Before you install internal options other than an internal hard disk unit, remove the
top covers.
7.2.1 Removing the Top Cover
1
Open the rack door.
"1.4.1 Opening the Rack Door" (pg.30)
2
Remove all cables connected to the server.
Replacing hot-swappable expansion cards or memory modules can be done without turning off
the server.
3
Remove the retaining screws used to fasten the server to the rack.
4
Slide the server.
Hold the handles from inside and pull the server out toward you until it clicks, so that it locks.
For details on how to slide the server out of the rack, refer to “PRIMERGY RX600 S2
Rack Mount Guide“.
• Before removing or attaching covers, turn off the server, all peripheral devices,
and any other connected devices. Also unplug all power cables from the
outlet. Failure to do so can cause electric shock ("1.4.3 Turning Off the Server"
pg.34)).
• When working with the server powered on, make sure that the
cables on the backside, such as the power cable, are not
unplugged or become entangled, when sliding the server out of
the rack.
