Chapter 7 Installing Internal Options
• Install memory modules with the same capacity in Bank 1 and 2 on the memory board. There are no
restrictions among memory boards.
• Install the memory boards in the order of Memory Board A (the standard board), Memory Board B,
Memory Board C, and Memory Board D.
BIOS Settings
By default, the spare memory function is enabled in the BIOS settings. When you set the spare memory
function again after changing to other memory settings, follow the procedure below.

Install memory modules according to the installation conditions.

Start the BIOS Setup Utility.

Select the [Memory] menu, [Configure System RAS and Performance], and
then press the [Enter] key.

Select [Desired Memory Configuration], and press the [Enter] key. Select [Max
Performance] and press the [Enter] key.

Select [View Configuration Detail] and press the [Enter] key.
The View Configuration Detail submenu window appears.

Check that [Configuration Possible] and [Sparing] are set to [Yes].
If [No] is displayed for [Configuration Possible], the memory modules were not installed
correctly. Install them correctly according to the installation conditions.

Press the [ESC] key to return to the [Configure System RAS and Performance]
submenu.

Press the [ESC] key to return to the [Memory] menu.

Select [View and Configure Memory Board n] (n is the number of the memory
board) and press the [Enter] key.

Select [Reserve Rank for Spare] and press the [Enter] key. Then, select
[Enabled] and press the [Enter] key.

Press the [F10] key.
A confirmation message appears, asking whether you want to save the changed BIOS settings.

Select [Yes] and press the [Enter] key.
The spare memory configuration is enabled after the system is restarted.
