Hot Swappable PCI Slots
The PCI slots 1 through 5 of this server are hot-swappable PCI slots. If an expansion card has a failure,
you can replace the failed expansion card without turning off this server and its peripheral devices.
Note
• Always contact your maintenance engineer to replace expansion cards by PHP function. This
operation must be performed by the maintenance engineer.
• This operation is only available when the OS is Windows Server 2003. Note that, if it is performed
under another OS, the system may go down.
• Depending on applications, the hot-plug operation may not be supported. Please check in advance.
• When running Windows 2000 Server, the cards mounted in the PCI slots 1 through 5 are listed in the
[Unplug or Eject Hardware] window, but you cannot unplug them. Never remove the cards.
• The following expansion cards can be replaced by PHP function. Other than those below are not
supported.
• Eth. Ctrl dual 1000-BASE-T (PG-286)
• Eth. Ctrl 1000-BASE-T Cu (PG-1892)
• Eth. Ctrl 1000-BASE-SX Fibre LC (PG-1882)
• Eth. Ctrl 2x1000-BASE-T Cu (PG-1862)
In the case of that the low clock frequency device is installed, PCI Bus Clock works on the clock of
lower device.
