14.4.2 Preliminary steps

For BIOS version 1.15 or below, automatic restore functionality of the
customer BIOS settings is not available. In this case, proceed as follows:

Please note down the current configuration or ask the customer to
provide individual settings. Restore settings to the new system board
manually.
Ê
If the BIOS version is unclear due to a defective system board, please
ask the customer to provide individual BIOS settings.
For all other BIOS versions, the customer BIOS settings are restored
automatically. For the Japanese market, please refer to the "Parameter
configuration sheet".
Before replacing the system board, perform the following steps:

Disable BitLocker functionality as described in section
"Disabling BitLocker
functionality" on page 93

Disable boot watchdog functionality as described in section
"Disabling
SVOM boot watchdog functionality" on page 94
.
Ê
If applicable, open the rack door as described in section
"Opening the rack
door" on page 61
.
Ê
Locate the desired server as described in section
"Locating the defective
server" on page 54
.
Ê
Shut down the server as described in section
"Shutting down the server" on
page 61
.
Ê
Remove the AC power cord from the cable tie and disconnect it from the
system as described in section
"Disconnecting power cords" on page 63
.
Ê
Disconnect all external cables.
Ê
When working on a rack-mounted server, extend it out of the rack as
described in section
"Extending the server out of the rack" on page 65
.
If further required, remove the server from the rack as described in section
"Removing the server from the rack" on page 66
.
Ê
Bring the server to its horizontal position.
