Hard disk drives
Two versions of the server are available:
SAS server variant:
The server has a drive bay in which up to four SAS disk drive modules can be
installed. Each hard disk drive module (HDD module) can accommodate a SAS
hard disk drive with a maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected to
the SAS backplane without cables via the SAS interface. This allows hard disk
drive modules to be easily plugged in or pulled out.
SATA server variant:
The server has a drive bay in which up to four SATA disk drive modules can be
installed. Each hard disk drive module (HDD module) can accommodate a
SATA hard disk drive with a maximum height of 1 inch. The module is connected
to the SATA backplane without cables via the SATA interface. This allows hard
disk drive modules to be easily plugged in or pulled out.
The SAS hard disk drives are either controlled by the onboard SAS controller or
by an optional PCI zero channel RAID controller. The SATA hard disk drives are
either controlled by the onboard SATA controller or by an optional PCI SATA
RAID controller. If the server has a RAID configuration, the HDD modules can
be exchanged during operation (hot plugging).
