Seabed AGC
While it is ideal to suppress seabed (bottom) echoes with the AGC alone there are
some fishing grounds where this is not possible. To suppress bottom echoes, use the
Seabed AGC feature.
1. Open the menu.
2. Select [2 Gain Setting], then left-click.
3. Select [0 Next] to show the second page of the menu.
4. Select [1 Seabed AGC], then left-click.
5. Left-click the
S
or
T
button to select the desired setting.
The available setting range is [0.0] to [10.0]. The higher the setting value, the low-
er the gain for the bottom echoes.
6. Select [Quit], then left-click.
7. Close the menu.
2.8.3
How to adjust the pulse length
The pulse length determines the length of the transmission pulse emitted into the wa-
ter. While a longer pulse is advantageous for long-range sounding, it has the disad-
vantage of being poor in discrimination of targets, that is, the ability to separate several
closely located targets. When searching for bottom fish, therefore, it is useful to short-
en the pulse length in order to separate fish echoes from bottom reflections. Decrease
the pulse length setting to shorten the pulse length.
Note:
For search of surface and midwater fish in which bottom reflections are not so
strong, use the longest pulse length [9].
1. Open the menu.
2. Select [1 TX/RX Setting], then left-click.
3. Select [2 TX Pulse Length], then left-click.
4. Left-click the
S
or
T
button to select the desired
setting.
The setting range is [0] to [9]. The higher the set-
ting, the longer the pulse length.
Note:
When reverberation is set to other than
[0], pulse length is automatically set to [9].
5. Select [Quit], then left-click.
6. Close the menu.
