2.10.7
Reverberation
You can choose the length of reverberation for the echo signal, with [4 Reverberation]
(located at main menu
→
[1 TX/RX Setting]. Adjusting the reverberation can compen-
sate for echoes from plankton, surface reflections and seabed echoes. The settings
available are [0] or [1]. The [0] setting is functional at ranges within 100 m. Setting [1]
reduces reverberation to a greater degree. Select the appropriate setting for your
needs.
2.10.8
Echo average
The echo average function adjusts echo afterglow - the amount of time an echo signal
remains on the screen. This feature can be useful for watching echo movement.
You can adjust the echo average from either of the following menus, depending on
your requirements: Main menu
→
[4 Picture Setting]
→
[1 Echo Average] or [6 Auto
Sweep Echo AVG]. The setting range is [0] to [11].
Settings between [1] and [7]:
Echoes are gradually displayed and afterglow remains
on the screen longer as the setting is increased.
Settings between [8] and [11]:
Echoes are quickly displayed and afterglow remains
on the screen longer as the setting is increased.
Adjust [1 Echo Average] for regular use; adjust [6 Auto Sweep Echo AVG] for echo
averaging while the auto sweep function is active. The setting for both items should
be the same.
2.10.9
2nd echo rejection
A target that is farther than the repetition interval of transmission may appear as a vir-
tual image on the screen one transmission later. This is called secondary echo. Re-
flections from tracks are so strong that secondary echoes appear easily. To remove
secondary echoes, set [9 2nd Echo Reject] (located at main menu
→
[4 Picture Set-
ting]) to other than “0” (OFF).
