Grounding the Distribution Panel:
It is important that you properly ground the Distribution Panel (see Figure 3). The panel comes
with a grounding lug. Using 14 AWG wire, connect the lug to an earth ground (water pipe or
grounding rod). If the coax network is connected to an outside antenna or cable system, be sure
the antenna or cable is installed in compliance with local installation codes and Articles 810 and
820 of the National Electrical Code. Articles 820-40 of the NEC code provide guidelines for
proper grounding of coaxial cable used in CATV systems.

Terminating the Distribution Panel
1. Bring the cable bundles in through the rough-in can and into the back of the Distribution
Panel cabinet.
2. Tape each bundle where it comes in from the wall to prevent the
SpeedWrap
from
unraveling up the wall.
3. Label each bundle where you taped it. This will prevent loss of the cable assignments when
you cut each cable to the proper length.
4. Remove the RJ45 keystone jacks and yellow coax inserts from the Distribution Panel and
route the
SpeedWrap
cables over to the hinge side of the panel and loosely tie wrap them
there at the top.
5. Fan each individual wire of the bundle through the appropriate hole in the panel. This will
give you the proper cut off lengths. You should place cables in the same order as the
receptacles so that when you look at the front of the panel it mimics the receptacles – with all
light colored cables on the left (yellow, orange, and pink) and dark colored cables on the right
(blue, gray, and black).
6. Trim all wires to a workable length. Leave 6”-12” of slack in the wall or in cabinet.
7. Push coax through their portholes, and terminate the coax lines with coax F connectors.
Screw on the yellow coax inserts then pull back the cables out and snap the bezels back in
place.
8. Pull each Cat5e wire back out of the Distribution Panel face and terminate each wire to the
proper RJ45 keystone jack module.
