Cable Installation
You should follow these general guidelines when installing
SpeedWrap
cable (see Figure 1):
•
Maintain a minimum bend radius of 4 times the cable diameter
•
Minimize jacket twisting
•
Minimize 90 degree bends
•
Do not over-tighten cable ties
•
Do not run
SpeedWrap
cable parallel to electrical or high-voltage lines if possible. If you
must run cable near electrical or high-voltage lines, maintain at least 18” distance from the
AC lines, and keep the run as short as possible (no more than 6’).
•
Avoid EMI sources (e.g. fluorescent lighting ballast)
•
Avoid heat sources (e.g. hot water pipes)
•
Cross electrical lines at a 90 degree angle
In addition, the following suggestions are recommended:
•
Allow 3 or more feet of extra cable at the distribution panel
•
Allow 18” or more extra cable at the receptacle
•
Allowing extra cable provides a margin of error for constructing terminations and ensures
that you will not waste time and money rerunning cable
