Refer to this section to learn more about setting up the
PWG-500 before you start using it.
Inserting the SIM cards and battery
The PWG-500 supports dual SIM cards and the slots are
placed underneath the battery. One of the SIM cards is
used for activating and authenticating your GSM
account. The other SIM card can be used for Wi-Fi
authentication if required.
When you subscribe to a service provider, you are given
a SIM card. This card stores your phone number and
entitles you to additional services included with your
subscription. Your personal address book is also stored
on the SIM card. The SIM card lock protects your sub-
scription from unauthorized use.
Most SIM cards are locked at the time of purchase. If the
SIM card lock is on, you have to enter a PIN (Personal
Identity Number) each time you turn on the PWG-500. If
you enter the PIN incorrectly three times in succession,
the SIM card is blocked. To unblock the SIM card, you
must enter the PUK (Personal Unblocking Key). The net-
work service provider supplies the PIN and the PUK
details.
Note: The SIM card lock only protects the subscription and
does not protect the PWG-500 from unauthorized use.
The PWG-500 is equipped with a rechargeable Li-ion
battery that can be charged using the supplied battery
charger.
