XPNDR (Transponder) Select Knob 

This knob is used to activate transponder 1 or transponder 2. Only one transponder can be 
active at one time. 

IDENT (Identification) Button 

This button is used to transmit the ATC radar aircraft identification. Push this button 
when requested by air traffic control (“Squawk Ident”). 

XPNDR (Transponder) FAIL Indicator

 

This indicator is illuminated when the selected transponder fails (will not illuminate 
during failure if Mode Select Knob is set to STBY).

 

 

FID (Flight Identification) Indicator

 

This indicator illuminates when the Flight ID mode is selected. This indicator flashes 
when a Flight ID (Call Sign and/or Flight Number) is being entered. 
 

ATC (Air Traffic Control) Indicator

 

This indicator illuminates when the ATC mode is selected. 

 
Display

 

The display can show up to eight alphanumeric digits. An ATC code consists of only four 
numeric digits. A Flight ID code consists of a combination of letters (airline call sign) 
and numbers (flight number). 

 

Keypad Buttons

 

These alphanumeric buttons are pressed to enter the ATC or the Flight ID code. Refer to

” sections below. 

 
CLR (Clear) Button

 

Use the CLR button to erase the last entered digit. Hold the CLR button for 2 seconds to 
erase all digits. 

 
ENT (Enter) Button

 

Press the ENT button to validate and transmit the Flight ID code. The FID indicator will 
stop blinking when you press the ENT button. 

 

ATC/FID (Air Traffic Control/Flight Identification) Button 

This button is used to switch between the ATC mode and the Flight ID mode.  
 

ABS (Absolute) Button 

Press and hold the ABS button to momentarily change the altitudes shown on the TCAS 
display from “relative” to “absolute”.  See “Panel Operation” below for more details.
