• Flow is towards the transducer on the right side of the color image and away from the
transducer on the left side of the image.
• Color changes from right to left due to sensitivity of the displayed velocity to the beam angle,
which changes across the vessel in this example because a sector transducer was used.

Observe the following in Figure 2-4:
• Flow is moving towards the transducer and the scanning surface for this diagonal vessel
segment.
• Orange-red color shift indicates flow towards the scanning surface.
• No flow is detected where the beam is perpendicular to the vessel, as seen in the area of no
color on the far right end of the color box (top right in the image).
