Getting started

•  Persons using the hedge trimmer for the first time would benefit from a practical briefing on how to use it as well as on 

personal protective equipment, by an experienced operator.

•  Remain vigilant. Go about your work in a rational frame of mind. If you are tired, or under the influence of drugs, alcohol 

or medication, you must not use the tool. Failure to pay proper attention during use of the tool can lead to extremely 

serious injuries.

•  Familiarise yourself with the tool before using it. Users who are not sufficiently informed can endanger either themselves 

or others through their improper use of the tool.

•  Make sure you have firm footing and keep your balance at all times. Using the tool (for example) on a ladder is prohibited. 
•  Do not use the tool for purposes other than those for which it is intended (see “Intended use“).
•  Wear suitable work clothing:

    - No jewellery or baggy clothing - these could be caught by the tool 

    - Gloves and non-slip shoes  

    -  A hairnet, if you have long hair

•  Wear protective clothing:

    - Hearing protection 

    - Safety glasses or face protection 

    - Work gloves  

    - Safety shoes 

    - A tested helmet in situations where head injuries are a possibility
•  We recommend wearing leg protectors and a safety jacket.
•  Keep your working area in good order!
•  Always consider environmental influences:

Do not expose the hedge trimmer to rain.

Postpone work in unfavourable weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, wind), due to the increased risk of accident!

Ensure there is good lighting.

Do not use the hedge trimmer in the vicinity of combustible liquids or gasses.

•  You may not be able to hear potential dangers due to the noise from the motor. You should therefore familiarise yourself 

with your environment.

•  Never leave the hedge trimmer unattended.
•  During breaks, the hedge trimmer must be set down in such a way that no-one is put at risk. Secure the hedge trimmer 

against unauthorised access.

•  Persons under the age of 18 are not permitted to operate the tool.
•  Keep away from children and other people.
•  The operator is responsible for accidents or hazards which may occur in relation to other persons or their property.
•  Do not allow other people, particularly children, to touch the tool or the motor.
•  Do not use a cutter which is blunt or damaged.
•  Only start cutting once the cutter is running.
•  Pay attention to overloading the tool! It works better and more safely within the stipulated performance range.
•  Only operate the tool when the safety devices are complete and properly attached. Do not make modifications to the 

machine, which could impact upon its safety.

•  Do not use a cutter which does not comply with the stipulated specifications.

The use of other tools and other accessories can result in a risk of injury for you.

•   Switch the tool off and pull the connector out of the spark plug:
