Power Supply –
This single-phase device supplies all 24 VDC needs within the control enclosure from
the available AC supply line.
Terminal Strip -
This device provides an interconnection between the ASG2 controller and the low
voltage hardware such as sensors and switches within the enclosure.
Main Starter -
Hardware details will vary with the type of speed regulation ordered:

Fixed speed
models are fitted with a wye-delta type starter that provides control and overload
protection for the TEFC main drive motor. Wiring diagrams are illustrated on pages 28 thru 42. The
overloads are adjustable and are factory set based on the motor nameplate amps and the instructions
provided. All electrical components are housed in a common Type 4 (NEMA 4) enclosure.

Variable speed
models are fitted with a pulse-width modulation, variable frequency drive (aka VFD)
that provides control and overload protection for the TEAO main drive motor. Wiring diagrams are
illustrated on pages 43 to 48. The VFD/main motor combination enables the compressor to match
the air supply to the customer
’s demands in real time and in a step-less fashion. The operational
logic which govern the VFD and motor is provided by the ASG2 controller. All electrical components
are housed in a common Type 1 (IP54) enclosure.

A small centrifugal fan ventilates the interior of the electrical enclosure by drawing fresh air
through a reusable foam filter assembly and discharging it into the confines of the sound
attenuating package enclosure.

A temperature sensor monitors the average temperature within the common enclosure and
warns, via the ASG2 controller, against high levels
– an indication that the local temperature has
been exceeded or that the air filter needs cleansing.
Ventilation fan (heat exchanger, main motor) contactor -
This contactor provides control for the cooler
fan motor
– in variable speed models, the contactor also controls the main motor ventilation fan.
Overload protection is provided by a thermal switch integral to the fan motor and externally wired to the
contactor. With the exception of the 575volt service, the overload protection for the main motor cooling
fan is provided internally.
NOTICE
Read the Operator’s Manual before operating the compressor. It is critical that
the detailed instructions for the controller, found in the controller manual
are read and understood. Once the appropriate parameters have been selected
into the controller, compressor operation may commence. For convenience, a
“Quick Start” excerpt from the controller manual is shown on Section 3
