1.0 INSTALLATION

1.1  Location

A. Air compressor intake - Locate air compressor so that

contaminants potentially harmful to the dryer (e.g.

ammonia) are not drawn into the air system.

1. Location - locate the dryer so that the coolest

ambient air possible will be drawn across

the condenser.

B. Free air flow - Do not block either side of the

cabinet. Leave 12 inches (305 mm) on each side of

cabinet for free air flow.

1.2 Mounting

A. Models RHP50 and larger - Feet are supplied as

standard. Feet may be removed if floor or shelf

mounting is desirable.

B. Models RHP13 and RHP20 include wall mounting

bracket. See Illustration.

1.3 Piping connections

A. Air Inlet - Connect compressed air line from air

compressor to air inlet.

Refer to Serial Number Tag for maximum

working pressure. Do not exceed unit’s Maximum

Working Pressure.
NOTE: For maximum capacity, install unit in air

system at highest pressure possible (e.g. before

pressure reducing valves).
NOTE: For maximum capacity, install unit at coolest

compressed air temperature possible.
NOTE: Maximum inlet compressed air temperature:

120°F (49°C).  If inlet air exceeds this temperature,

precool the air with an aftercooler.

B.  Air Outlet - Connect air outlet to downstream

 air lines.

C. By-pass piping - If servicing the unit without

interrupting the air supply is desired, piping should

include inlet and outlet isolation valves and an air by-

pass valve.

D. Drain - It is advisable to connect the automatic drain

outlet to the condensate drainage system.

NOTE: Drain discharge is at system pressure. Drain

line should be anchored to prevent whipping.

E. Water cooled models - cooling water inlet and outlet

1. Connect inlet water line to strainer.

2. Connect outlet piping.

NOTE: Strainer and water regulating valve are supplied on

water cooled models.

1.4  Electrical connections

A. Dryer is designed to operate on the voltage, phase,

and frequency listed on the serial number tag.

B. Dryer is supplied with an electrical cord and plug.

NOTE: Refrigeration condensing unit is designed to

run continuously and should NOT be wired to cycle

on/off with the air compressor.
