Using xImage for Waypoint Icons
xImage allows you to exchange images between your
PC and your 76CS Plus. You can download and save
screen shots of any screen displayed on your unit.
xImage also allows you to download customizable
waypoint symbols from compatible GPS units, cus-
tomize them (if you have an image editing program
on your PC), and send them back to your GPS unit.
You can download xImage from the Garmin Web site
at http://www.garmin.com/ximage/. Refer to the help
file for complete instructions about using xImage.
Interfacing
Interface formats are selected from the Interface
Setup page, discussed on pages 85–86. The input/out-
put lines on your 76CS Plus are RS-232 compatible,
allowing easy interface to a wide range of external
devices, including PC’s, differential beacon receivers,
marine autopilots, or a second GPS receiver.
The following formats are supported for connection
of external devices: GARMIN proprietary Differential
GPS (DGPS), NMEA 0183 version 3.01 (up to three
devices), and RTCM SC-104 input (version 2.0).
The following are the Approved Sentences for
NMEA 0183, version 3.01 output: GPGGA, GPGLL,
GPGSA, GPGSV, GPRMB, GPRMC, GPRTE,
GPVTG, GPWPL, and GPBOD. The following are
the Proprietary Sentences for NMEA 0183, ver-
sion 3.01 output: PGRME, PGRMZ, PGRMM, and
PGRMZ.
