3.17.2 GRT 10 XM Wireless Transceiver
The GRT 10 wireless transceiver operating at 2.4GHZ allows the user to interface wirelessly
with the GDL XM radio by receiving and transmitting information to the GRC 10 remote control
via RF.

The GCU 477 is a panel-mounted user control interface that enables the aircraft’s flight crew to
control the Garmin G1000 Flight Management System (FMS). The GCU 477 has 40 alpha-
numeric keys, 15 special function keys, one dual rotary encoder, and one joystick encoder.
The GCU 477 sends data over an RS-232 serial connection to the G1000 that informs the CDU
(Control Display Unit) when the manual interface controls are operated by the user.
