GEA 71 Standby Battery High-Side Current Monitor Calibration Procedure
2.7.5.1
Requirements
•
Windows-compatible PC (Windows 2000 or XP recommended)
•
SanDisk SD Card Reader, P/N SDDR-93 or SDDR-99 or equivalent card reader
•
Blank SD Card
•
HSCM Offset Tool (HSCM.exe, Garmin P/N 006-A0173-01) obtained from the Dealer section of
Garmin’s website.

Procedure
In the Aircraft:
1.
Apply power to the aircraft using an external 28 volt cart.
2.
Arm the STBY BATT Switch and verify the PFD comes on.
3.
Verify no red X’s appear on the engine indicators.
4.
Verify BUS E Volts shows a minimum of 24 Volts.
5.
Verify M BUS Volts shows 1.5 Volts or less.
6.
Turn the MASTER Switch (BAT) on.
7.
Turn the AVIONICS Switch (BUS 1 and 2) on and verify the MFD comes on.
On the MFD:

Using the FMS knob navigate to the AUX-SYSTEM STATUS page as shown in Figure 2-37.
9.
Record the GEA1 serial number. Also note the PFD1 or MFD1 software version for use later.
10.
Press the ENGINE softkey.
11.
Press the SYSTEM softkey (on the 172, look on the Engine Page, not the System Page for engine hours).
12.
Record the engine hours.
