GA 26C Remote GPS Antenna Installation Instructions
Contents:
GA 26C Antenna Assembly
Surface mount with 8 ft. cable
and BNC connector. Two M3
mounting screws.
Installation Notes:
The GARMIN GA 26C Low Profile Remote Antenna is designed for use with GARMIN
handheld GPS receivers equipped with “BNC” cable connectors. The GA 26C is provided with
an 8 ft. cable and “BNC” connector, magnetic mount, windshield suction cup mount and two
M3 mounting screw. Connect the cable to the GARMIN GPS Unit and place the antenna into
view of satellites for operation.
The antenna can be mounted several ways, permanently or temporarily. Before placing the
antenna in position, consider these factors:
o!
Make certain the location is not shielded by metal objects or near sources of electrical “noise”.
o!
Make certain the distance from the antenna location to the GPS unit installation is
within cable length limitations and the path does not route the cable near strong
electrical fields. To increase cable length 8 ft., order Extension Part No. 010-10152-00.
o!
Determine the materials of construction of the surface you desire to place the antenna.
Ferrous metal (Steel) will accept the magnetic mounting option while other metals
and composition surfaces will require the suction cup mount
(provided in this kit)
or the
Trunk Lip or Flange Mount options.

mount to any flat
ferrous metal surface.
Suction Cup Mount:
Positions antenna
inside auto windshield.
Installing the Antenna
1.
Select a suitable location for installation that
allows routing of the antenna cable to the GPS
unit and also provides an unshielded view of
the sky for good satellite reception.
NOTE:
Be certain to route cable in such a
manner as to prevent pinching of the cable by
doors, windows or trunk lids when they are
opened or closed.
2.
If using the Magnetic Mount, attach it to the
bottom of the antenna using the two M3 flat
head screws
(provided)
. Insert the screws in
the two countersunk holes and then attach to
the antenna.
(Figure 1)
Place the antenna with
magnetic mount on a flat surface with a clear
view of the sky.
NOTE:
You may want to store the antenna
inside your vehicle when not in use to prevent
theft or vandalism. If left in place for prolonged
periods of time, remove and clean dust and grit
from the vehicle surface and bottom of the
antenna to reduce abrasion to the vehicle finish.
3.
Connect the antenna cable to the BNC
connection on the GPS unit. Turn on
the unit and determine that proper satellite
reception is achieved. You may need to
relocate the antenna for best reception.
