6.8 Configuration Module Replacement
Configuration modules are located in the GMC 605H and GSU 75H connector backshell.
NOTE
Garmin configuration modules are not electro-static discharge (ESD) sensitive.
Configuration modules do not require special ESD protection for handling during removal
or re-installation.
6.8.1 GMC 605H Mode Controller

All item numbers in this procedure reference Figure 6-19.
1. Remove power from the GFC 600H FCS by pulling the FCS circuit breaker and remove the
GMC 605H per Figure 6-1.
2. Disconnect the J6052 connector from the GMC 605H backplate by removing the two screws.
3. Remove the backshell cover (item 7) from the J6052 by unscrewing the two screws (item 8).
4. Lift the configuration module (item 1) out of the backshell (item 6) and disconnect the wiring
harness (item 3) from the module.
5. Inspect the wiring harness (item 3) and connector pins (item 4) for damage, loose wiring, or
corrosion. Replace all deficient components if any of these conditions are found.
6. Connect harness to new configuration module.
7. Install new configuration module in connector backshell (item 6) and re-install cover (item 7).
8. Reattach to the J6052 connector to the GMC 605H backplate.
9. Re-install the GMC 605H in accordance with Section 6.1.
