If it is necessary to replace the existing bonding clamp, install a new conductive clamp for bonding in
accordance with AC 43.13-1B Chapter 11 and the following criteria:
•
Use cadmium plated steel clamp, nut, and washers. Only AN735-6 and larger diameter clamps
are permitted for the bonding location. See Table B-2 for acceptable hardware.
Install the conductive clamp on the tubular structure using the following procedure (see Figure B-8):
1. Ensure all surface preparation material (e.g., primer, paint, etc.) is removed between the clamp and
the metallic tube over an area that is equal to the width of the clamp and one-inch minimum length
for steel tubes (two-inch minimum length for attachment to aluminum tubes) to ensure a good
contact surface.
2. Re-install the existing bonding straps from the GTS 8XX mounting plate to the bonding clamp.
NOTE
If it is necessary to replace the bonding straps, fabricate new straps, as shown in
Figure B-8, using the hardware specified in Table B-2. The bonding strap must not be
longer than six inches. Install the #10 end of the bonding strap to the conductive clamp, as
shown in Figure B-8. Install the other end of the bonding straps to the GTS 8XX mounting
plate, as shown in Figure B-8.
3. Verify the resistance between the GTS 8XX chassis and the aircraft ground structure does not
exceed the value specified in Table 2-2.
4. After assembly and bonding check, prime the airframe tube and clamp in accordance with one of
the following:
