OPERATION
WARNING:
Always ensure that the appliance and all its parts and accesso-
ries are
out of reach of young children
. Your new DESIGN WARMING TRAY is
intended for warm-keeping edible food in pans, pots and heat-resistant dishes /
bowls. Thus, the heating plate and even the exterior and handles will become very
hot during operation. During operation and several minutes thereafter only touch
the appliance at the temperature control dial to avoid scalds. Do not move the
appliance, when it is still hot.
During operation
DO NOT
place the appliance near any inflammable or explosive
liquids or gases (e.g. spirit, propane gas cylinder, or gas lighter). Additionally, do
not place the appliance on heat-sensitive surfaces or over power cords during ope-
ration, to avoid damage due to overheating and risk of fire and electric shock.
The appliance is
NOT
intended for heating up food directly. Do not place any food
directly onto the heating plate. Use heat-resistant containers or cooking pots/pans.
Keep in mind that the containers of your food may be hot after being heated on the
heating plate. Protect your hands accordingly, before removing any items from the
heating plate.
Only place the appliance on a stable, dry, level, heat-resistant and clean surface.
The appliance may not wobble, tilt or slip on the table or counter. Do not place
the appliance on inclined surfaces where it can fall over and/or fall down, or any
containers will slip down from the heating plate. Do not place the appliance on
glass or stone, as these materials could crack due to local heating. Do not place any
clothes or tissue or other foreign objects on or under the appliance during operation,
to avoid risk of fire, overheating, or electric shock. Do not block the ventilation slits
of the housing. During operation, the temperature control dial must be accessible all
the time (see: “Knowing Your Design Warming Tray”).
1. Place the appliance on a suitable surface near a suitable wall power outlet (see:
“Technical Specifications”). Turn the temperature control dial counter-clockwise
to the stop (“0”).
Important:
In contrast to ranges and other heating devices, the desired digit on
the temperature control dial must face to the black point left-handed to the tempe-
rature control dial.
2. Unwind the power cord completely and connect the appliance to the power
supply.
3. Select the desired temperature setting by turning the temperature control dial
clockwise. The red heating indicator will illuminate, showing that the appliance
is heating. However, there could be a time delay of some minutes until the hea-
ting plate will heat up perceptible. This is normal.
WARNING - RISK OF BURNS:
Even the housing and handles of the appli-
ance will get hot during operation. Only touch the appliance at the temperature
control dial during operation to avoid scalds.
4. Wait until the red heating indicator goes out, indicating that the heating plate
reached the set temperature. The heating indicator will go on and out several
times during operation. This is normal.
CAUTION:
The appliance is not intended for heating up cold food. Only
place pre-heated cooking pots/pans or warm containers onto the heating plate,
when the heating plate is hot.
DO NOT
place any frozen food onto the hot heating
plate. Always wait until the heating plate has reached the set temperature (heating
indicator goes out), before placing any hot containers onto the heating plate.
Otherwise the heating plate could crack.

keep your food warm. Do not leave the appliance unattended while it i connected
to the power supply.
6. After usage, switch OFF (turn the temperature control dial counter-clockwise to
the stop) and unplug the appliance.
7. Leave the appliance cool down completely (approx. 1/2 hour). Then clean the
appliance (see: “Care and Cleaning”).
