Network Communication Paths
For the DCS-9560 and DCS-9565, all or part of a time slot can be allocated for network management
communications. The

on using this capability.
5.3 DCS Configuration with IntraGuide
5.3.1
Beginning Steps
Before you use IntraGuide to configure your CrossConnect products, perform these basic setup
procedures:
1.
Setup the hardware at each node, including all necessary

Modules
•
Modems
•
Cables

Run the IntraGuide installation program on your PC.
3.
Connect the PC or laptop (baud rate set to 9600) to the serial port on the equipment shelf either
directly or remotely using a modem.
4.
Run a communications program, such as HyperTerminal, to set the communications parameters
(Table 5-1).

Ensure that all the hardware is securely connected.
6.
Execute the ISiCL default STATUS? command.
A response to this command confirms that the communications port is working. It is able to
respond to this command without an address. In IntraGuide, you can execute ISiCL commands by
selecting ISiCL Terminal from the Setup menu.

Execute the FLAGS11 command to get the address of the DCS.
:DCS:CONFIG?:FLAGS11;

Write down this address number and save it. You must enter this address when you configure the
DCS in IntraGuide.
