14 Maintaining and Troubleshooting the Gateway ALR 9000 Server
Installing Memory
1. Open the system as described on page 15.
2. Remove the screws securing the memory card to the chassis as shown below.
Save the screws.
3. Gently pull out the memory card from the system board and lay it (socket
side up) on a static-free surface.
4. Hold the SIMM over the socket and push the SIMM into the socket until it is
firmly seated.
5. Tilt up the memory module to a vertical position until the spring-loaded
latches locks it into place.
6. Repeat steps 4 through 6 to install additional memory modules.
7. Reinstall the memory card, making sure it seats firmly into the system board
memory slot.
8. Secure the memory card with the screws you removed in step 2.
9. Close the system as described on page 16.
