BIOS Setup 29
Diskette A and B
These parameters indicate what type of floppy drive is installed in your system.
The system supports the following floppy drives:
•
360-KB 5.25-inch
•
1.2-MB 5.25-inch
•
720-KB 3.5-inch
•
1.44-MB 3.5-inch
•
2.88-MB 3.5-inch
If you are uncertain about which type of floppy disk you have installed, you can
make the system check the configuration at boot-up to verify that you have entered
the correct type. Do this by enabling Floppy Check under Boot Sequence on the
Main Setup screen.
Daylight Savings (USA)
Enable this setting if you are in a region of the United States that observes daylight
savings time. When
[Enabled]
, your system will automatically “spring forward”
and “fall back.”
IDE Adapter 0 Master / Slave and 1 Master / Slave
Enter the type of IDE hard disk drive installed in your system in this parameter.
The options for this field are User, None, Drive Types 1-39, and Autodetect (or
Auto Sense). For most drives, Autodetect can correctly sense the drive type
installed. If not, you can manually enter the drive specifications as described in the
documentation included with the hard disk drive.
•
Cylinders: Directly related to the storage capacity, the number of
cylinders in your hard drive refers to the number of tracks on each of the
hard disks inside the drive. This information is included in the hard drive
documentation.
•
Heads: Located within the hard drive, the heads read and write data to
the disk. Larger and faster drives tend to have more heads. Refer to the
documentation that came with your hard drive for information.
•
Sectors/Track (Sectors per Track): A sector is a 512-byte block of data
on one of the tracks of your hard drive. Larger drives have more sectors
per track. Refer to the documentation that came with your hard drive for
information.
Note:
Enabling the Floppy Check
slows the boot up process.
Remember to disable this
parameter afterwards for a
faster boot up.
