PRODUCT REPLACEMENT
Announcements:
The SpectraComm 1001 (SC 1001) Standalone Enclosure replaces the
RA 1000 Standalone Enclosure. The differences found in the SC 1001 are listed
briefly below.
Summary of Differences:
•
Product cards are inserted and removed from the SC 1001 through the front panel
slot without the use of tools and without cover removal. DO NOT remove SC 1001
covers as there are no user-serviceable parts.
•
The SC 1001 enclosure design permits a "Hot Swap" of a SpectraComm product
card via the front panel slot without powering down the enclosure.
•
The SC 1001 enclosure is more light-weight with a low power design that dissi-
pates heat.
•
One of two types of external power transformers is shipped with the enclosure:
a 115 Vac wallmount unit, or a 230 Vac transformer that attaches to a customer-
supplied, country-specific power cable.
Quick Start Installation:
1. Determine input power, then attach the external power transformer shipped with
your product. For 230 Vac environments, use your country-specific power cable.
2. If applicable, check the switch options on the SpectraComm card being installed.
3. Insert the card in the enclosure using the card lever and an even pressure on the card
front panel. A green LED will illuminate when the card is installed properly.
4. With some product cards, tests can be run using the card’s front panel switches or
the enclosure’s rear panel TERM port.
NOTE: Most SpectraComm cards use the enclosure’s rear panel TERM port for mak-
ing terminal/craft connections. When the SC 521A/S DSU card is installed in the en-
closure, the TERM port will be disabled. For this card, use the enclosure’s rear panel
NTWK B port for all terminal/craft communication.
